Te Paranui is powered by a community of people who care about animals, nature and creating a kinder way of living.
We welcome local volunteers to help with the animals, gardens, grounds and everyday life at the sanctuary. We also offer a free room in the house for one live-in volunteer in exchange for around one hour of help each day.
Throughout the year, we’ll announce community working bees, where everyone is welcome to join us for a day and help with special projects.
We can also arrange group visits and volunteering days for schools, community groups, businesses and other organisations.
Whether you can give an hour, a day or a little more, your help makes a real difference.
Volunteers are helping with:
- feeding animals
- cleaning enclosures
- collecting manure
- brushing horses
- moving hay
- planting/digging/weeding/harvesting in the garden
- maintaining the grounds
- building structures for the animals
- fixing gates/fences
